Basic guide to use PetGround and tips to train your pet.
We teach you the basic steps to follow!
Basic use guide
- OPEN YOUR BOX WHEN YOU RECEIVE IT!
Insert the box inside the lid, (you will need it to close it when you replace your PetGround with a new one).
- PLACE YOUR PETGROUND ALWAYS IN THE SAME SITE
Our recommendation is that you place it in the yard or where your pet is used to peeing. You can also place it near the door through which you go for a walk.
- EXTEND THE FRESHNESS OF YOUR PETGROUND
Keep your PetGround out of direct sunlight and spray it with water from time to time.
The grass will absorb urine naturally and its substrate will prevent the passage of odors.
- PICK UP THE POOLS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
Pick up solid stools like you would in the park.
- REMOVE IT AND PLACE YOUR NEW PETGROUND
Close it again with the lid that you had kept and take it to the organic container. Now, put your new PetGround in the same place where you had the other one!
Tips for training your pet
- Reward your pet immediately!
Many dogs head straight for PETGROUND. Be attentive to be able to congratulate him and give him an award as positive reinforcement.
- See how he uses it
Keep an eye on your dog the first few times he uses it. Some dogs might destroy the box or tear up the grass.
- Establish a routine
For example, take your puppy to his PETGROUND as soon as he wakes up, after and before meals, after play, nap and before going to sleep. Puppies have a bladder and a small intestine and have to relieve themselves every 4 hours. If he doesn't come after 5 minutes, try again at 15. When he succeeds, give him a nice compliment and give him a treat!
- Watch the signs
Between each use, observe the signals that your pet gives you (movements in a circle, sniffing intensely or when he lowers his butt). If you see that he is about to go, try to distract him to get him to his PETGROUND as quickly as possible.
- Use the strap
To associate natural grass with your walks, take your pet on a leash to his PETGROUND. When he uses it, as a reward, give him a short walk. Use the same language and caresses that you would use on your walks. If that doesn't work, take him to the PETGROUND every time you come back from a ride.
- Attract it with its aromas
If your pet finds it difficult to understand, soak a paper towel with his urine and rub it against the natural grass. Another "natural" method is for a pet friend of yours to come and use PETGROUND so that yours will understand. This can be repeated as many times as necessary. Likewise, there are pheromone sprays in pet stores for the same purpose.
- Change of artificial solutions and / or soakers to PETGROUND
Pets using these types of solutions may need some time to get used to PETGROUND. Place it near the solution you are using so far so your pet understands the purpose. Once you start using PETGROUND, remove the previous solutions. Be patient! Modifying pet habits takes time.
- Skeptical pets
Very well-trained pets may believe that it is not okay to relieve themselves indoors. In this case, you will need an extra motivation, caresses and rewards until he understands that it is okay to do it at home in his brand new PETGROUND.
- Pets "anti" PETGROUND
Exceptionally and with no documented cases to date, there may be a pet that does not want to use PETGROUND or does not understand all its benefits. In that case, please contact us and we will try to find a solution. Remember that you can cancel your subscription at any time at no cost.
